Mission Advisor's Key Tasks:
1.    To advance the mission goals of the Synod as outlined in the Synod’s Mission Statement.
2.    To assist parishes within the Synod area to be outward-looking within their communities, and beyond.
3.    To work with congregations and their leaders in developing their mission.
4.    To identify mission-minded parishes within the Synod area, and encourage and assist them with projects and growth.
5.    To work alongside congregations/parishes, encouraging the leaders to identify the mission of their church.
6.    To assist in identifying and advancing key mission projects in the Synod area.
7.    To assist in training and development of key mission leaders.
8.    To be aware of changes, and to be prepared to re-evaluate regularly, identifying key tasks and projects.
9.    To be involved in evaluations and appraisals of ministers and congregations; being encouraging and affirming while setting goals for future progress.
10.    The responsibilities do not include crisis management.

Steph is married to Marty and they have a daughter named Ella and they reside in Gore.  They worship at Calvin Community Church.  Steph is employed by Synod for 25 hours a week to nurture and develop youth work in the Synod area.  She is passionate about training and developing young leaders and encouraging churches to pursue new and innovative ways to connect with the youth in their community.  If you are a youth leader in the synod area then make sure you are connected with Steph so you can be encouraged and supported in the work you do.  Also if you are in a church who are interested in getting involved in some kind of youth ministry then contact Steph who is happy to help.

Kids Friendly Advisor

Cheryl is married to Ken and lives in Dunedin. They have 4 adult children and one grandchild. She brings together her experience as a primary school teacher, and wife of a Presbyterian minister, to this exciting role of Kids Friendly Advisor. This is a fulltime position paid by Synod as part of the national Kids Friendly team.

Cheryl loves to see all ages participating in and enjoying Sunday worship and she is keen to encourage churches to explore new ways of sharing the Good News of Jesus with community children and families.
She is available to assist, encourage and resource churches as they intentionally minister to children and families- on Sundays and during the week, regularly or occasionally. If you have a children’s ministry make sure your church is part of the Kids Friendly network where you can get up to date information on resources and training opportunities. If you would like to reach out to more children and families in your community then contact Cheryl for ideas and support.
