Synod Youth Office:

The role of the Synod Youth Coordinator is to encourage and assist youth leaders and churches throughout Otago & Southland to develop healthy youth ministries that offer young people the opportunity to grow in their faith in God.

Networking/Connecting

• Monthly email containing updates, resources & interesting youth tit-bits.
• Annual gathering for youth leaders.
• Regional gatherings for networking and training
• Synod webpage
• Database – keeping a record of who’s out there.

Training

• Regional workshops and training events
• Youth Leadership development camps “Going Somewhere” and "Going Deeper - in youth ministry"
• Specialised training can be requested by parishes.

 Resourcing

• Synod webpage
• Promoting good resources for youth ministry
• Monthly email updates

Advocacy

• Ensuring youth leaders are supported through issues relating to change, conflict resolution, complaints, safety & employment etc.
• Representing & promoting Synod regional work at national, global & ecumenical levels as appropriate.

Events

• Enabling Synod events to happen each year.
• Supporting and encouraging regional events like Samstock each year.
• Supporting and encouraging new initiatives and developments relating to youth ministry.
